Never sure when it’s saved or if checkpoints are a thing so you can land up playing huge chunks again.You can get hot through walls and platforms.The healing you get from powers and items is a small add-on on top of the needless cooldown meter.At times the hit detection gets whacky and throws you around.Some parts of the level have you seemingly walking on air.Combat has that annoying thing where you can’t change direction when pressing the button.Quite harsh knowledge costs for using powers/spells.Basically, if you hack and slash you will have a tough time. The huge learning curve as the combat involves being patient and learning the routine and motions to it.Casting spells takes time and you can be damaged when performing.Elements play a huge part with them canceling and empowering attacks based on the element in use.Every backdrop to a section looks like a painting on the wall, the platforms could be clouds that you thought were scenery, it’s all very well done.Is a satisfying game but it is difficult.A wide variety of weapons from swords, axes, and spears and not forgetting the trusty shield.
Levels are represented and indeed presented like books with big glorious oldy world text.Beautiful locations and artwork that has you going through and behind the art/scenery.The library is your hub where you access lore, use the shops, and select what level to play.Globes act like shops/crafting points and you can buy/destroy items, get new uniforms and learn new spells.Knowledge drops from enemies and chests, it is used as currency for both items and using your spells/powers.Magic stance is where you can then add a 3 button combination to cast a spell.Opening tutorial section but you get continuous pop-ups as needed.Glossary shows your real-time attributes like the type of physical damage or what elemental damage you are currently doing.Two difficulties – Easy and normal/difficult.You get both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game.But after being anointed the new Guardian of the Library where that lost knowledge is kept, now it is time for you to amend your ancestors’ mistakes and protect the ancient tales from the wicked magic that threatens to erase them forever.
